Owned and operated by the Muscogee Nation, the River Spirit Casino, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a premier entertainment destination offering a range of gaming, dining, and live entertainment experiences. Among its highlights is the Grid Iron Sports Bar, the largest sports viewing bar in the state, delivering an unparalleled viewing experience for patrons.
The challenge
Designing and installing a high-performance AV system in a venue like the Grid Iron Sports Bar presented several unique challenges:
- Spatial Considerations:
- The venue’s expansive layout required careful planning to ensure even audio coverage and unobstructed sightlines for all patrons.
- Integrating large-format video displays into a dynamic and visually stimulating environment demanded precise placement and calibration.
- Large windows, which open onto the street, presented visual and auditory challenges.
- Technical Requirements:
- The system needed to support a variety of content, from live sports broadcasts to special events, with consistently high-quality audio and video.
- Ensuring system reliability during peak operating hours was critical.
- Integrating AV-over-IP services with the existing network infrastructure.
- Complex programming to allow individual control of over 60 TV screens and multiple video walls with multiple sources.
- Acoustic Environment:
- Managing sound levels in a bustling, high-energy environment posed challenges in minimising echo and ensuring speech intelligibility.

To address these challenges, the team implemented a tailored solution using innovative AV technology. In addition, i5 Design conducted daylight studies to ensure all screens remained visible throughout the day. The installation included:
Key Components
- Audio System:
- High-fidelity ceiling and wall-mounted speakers from Martin Audio ensured even sound distribution across the venue.
- Advanced DSP (Digital Signal Processing) provided precise control of sound levels and zones.
- Acoustic modelling, using EASE software, ensured consistent speaker coverage and minimised street noise spillage into the venue.

- A stunning main video wall consisting of 60 high-definition screens, provided by Taylorleds, seamlessly integrated to create a single, continuous display for maximum visual impact.
- Multiple large-format LED displays strategically positioned for optimal visibility from any seat.
- High-resolution projectors and screens delivering dynamic content in the TopGolf® swing suites.

- Control Systems:
- Centralised control panels, powered by Q-SYS, allowed seamless switching between different content sources.
